Following a cremation and at the client’s instruction, we will collect the cremated remains (ashes) of
the deceased from the crematorium and will care for them securely at our funeral home for up to 90
days after the date of the cremation.
Where we have collected the cremated remains (ashes) from the crematorium and are holding them
awaiting instruction from the client, should the cremated remains (ashes) not have not been collected
within 90 days or should we not have received instruction from the client as to the final disposition of
the cremated remains (ashes), we reserve the right to:
- Return the cremated remains (ashes) to the crematorium where the cremation took place, if
permitted by law and provided that the crematorium will accept their return. In this case, the
crematorium would normally carry out an unwitnessed scattering of the ashes in their Garden
of Remembrance. Before we return the cremated remains (ashes) to the crematorium, we
will endeavour to contact the client to advise that the cremated remains (ashes) will be
returned to the crematorium if they have not been collected from us by a specified date or if
we have not received further instructions from the client. - If we are unable to return the cremated remains (ashes) to the crematorium for any reason
and as such, we are required to hold/store them for more than 90 days, there will be a monthly
charge (as per our standard price list) for the storage of the cremated remains (ashes) over 90
days, which will be invoiced to the client. - If the client instructs us to continue to hold/store the cremated remains (ashes) for more than
90 days, there will be a monthly charge (as per our standard price list) for the storage of the
cremated remains (ashes) over 90 days, which will be invoiced to the client.
